SCRC Victory Dinner – Limited Seating – Stonewater Club Lakeside One and Two
On May 8, 2025, President Donald Trump issued a proclamation designating May 8th as Victory Day for World War II, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Allied victory over Nazi Germany in Europe (V-E Day) and honoring the sacrifices of American forces. We met, we talked, we decided, and we’re all in.
The Stone Creek Republican Club is proud to host our Victory Dinner in recognition of this historic designation.
This is a must-attend event.
We are currently finalizing the pricing, menu, entertainment, and schedule. Full details will be announced soon. What we can tell you now is that this will be another enjoyable evening and an opportunity to support the work of the Stone Creek Republican Club. Tickets will go on sale during an upcoming Ticket Tuesday, details pending.
Seating is limited to the Lakeside One and Two rooms at the Stonewater Club, which means we will be limited to approximately 70.
Our club continues to grow with active, engaged members who understand that critical elections are on the horizon at the local, state, and national levels. Events like this Victory Dinner are how we build our team, strengthen our community, and prepare for the work ahead.

Ticket Tuesday
Chat, relax, engage, and share. Check the Lifestyle office publications for the rotating schedule, which is either 10:00 AM to 12 Noon or 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, at the Stonewater Club. Begin a new or renew your membership, buy tickets and SCRC merchandise, obtain candidate information, issue papers, corporate sponsor information, and much more.
As the largest club in Stone Creek, our events range from intimate gatherings to major productions. This presents both an opportunity and a practical reality. When we host larger events, seating capacity in our reserved rooms reaches its limit and Ticket Tuesday can get busy with longer lines than other clubs and organizations. Inquire as time permits as to what others are doing and offering.
The Stonewater Club offers ample space beyond the designated Ticket Tuesday room(s), Diamond, Lakeside 1, and Lakeside 2. SCRC members are welcome and encouraged to utilize the hallways, bar area, and patio for individual conversations and small group discussions. We encourage members to support the Stonewater Club by purchasing beverages from the bar, and we extend our appreciation to the Lifestyle personnel for their continued accommodations. These informal settings often prove to be the most productive environments for building relationships, exchanging ideas, and strengthening connections within our membership.

Supreme Court
By Paul Grant Truesdell
Supreme Court Affirms Candidates' Right to Challenge Election Rules in Federal Court
On January 15, 2026, the Supreme Court ruled in Bost v. Illinois Board of Elections that candidates for federal office have standing to challenge election rules in federal court. Chief Justice John Roberts, writing for a five-justice majority, stated that candidates have a concrete and particularized interest in the rules that govern how votes are counted in their elections.
The case originated with Representative Michael Bost, a Republican from Illinois who has served in the U.S. House since 2015. Bost challenged Illinois policy that allows ballots mailed by Election Day but received afterward to be counted. He argued this practice undermines election integrity by including ballots that arrive after the legal deadline.
Lower courts had dismissed the case, claiming Bost lacked standing because his concerns were speculative. The Supreme Court disagreed.
Roberts explained that candidates are fundamentally different from the general public when it comes to election rules. They have a direct personal stake in how elections are conducted and how results are determined. Roberts compared candidates to runners in a race who would be harmed if the rules changed mid-competition.
This decision establishes clear legal footing for candidates to bring election integrity challenges in federal court. Previously, many such cases were dismissed on procedural grounds before the merits could even be considered. President Trump himself noted after the 2020 election that standing requirements had prevented courts from hearing legitimate concerns about election procedures.
The ruling does not decide whether any specific election rule is lawful or unlawful. It simply confirms that federal courts can hear these cases when candidates bring them forward.
For Republicans who have long advocated for tighter election procedures and greater accountability in how votes are counted, this decision removes a significant procedural barrier. Candidates can now pursue legal challenges to ensure elections are conducted according to established rules without being turned away at the courthouse door on technicalities.

Republican Party of Florida
At a time when Florida is focused on giving, Congresswoman Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick is focused on taking. She stands indicted and is accused of siphoning millions in emergency relief funds meant for Floridians in crisis, and is now playing the victim while asking those same Floridians to open their wallets again.

Attorney General Expands Investigation into Marijuana Petition Fraud
Attorney General James Uthmeier has expanded an investigation into suspected fraud involving the recreational marijuana ballot initiative. Statewide Prosecutor Bradley R. McVay has requested that all 67 county Election Supervisors turn over petitions collected by Smart & Safe Florida circulators accused of using forged signatures or information from deceased voters. Counties have until 5 p.m. Friday to respond. The investigation began after Broward County officials identified at least 535 fraudulent petitions. Smart & Safe Florida is racing to collect approximately 880,000 verified signatures needed for ballot access. The Florida Supreme Court will hear arguments on February 5 regarding whether the measure should be blocked.
Florida Nurse Banned After Social Media Post About Press Secretary
Attorney General Uthmeier announced that labor and delivery nurse Lexie Lawler has been banned from practicing nursing in Florida effective immediately. Lawler was terminated from Baptist Health Boca Raton Regional Hospital earlier this month after posting comments on TikTok wishing a painful childbirth on White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt. Uthmeier stated that wishing pain and suffering on anyone in connection with professional practice crosses an ethical line.
State Universities Approve One-Year Pause on H-1B Visa Hiring
The Board of Governors unveiled a proposed rule that would halt new H-1B visa hires at Florida universities for one year through January 5, 2027. Current employees would be exempt. Final approval is expected in February. The policy follows an audit supported by Governor DeSantis that criticized universities for filling positions with foreign workers rather than Americans. Faculty leaders have expressed concern that the moratorium could harm recruitment and the reputation of Florida higher education. The action coincides with federal efforts by President Trump to reform the H-1B program, including a proposed $100,000 fee to discourage misuse.
Congressman Byron Donalds Responds to Colbert Remarks
Congressman Byron Donalds criticized late-night host Stephen Colbert for comments comparing ICE agents unfavorably to Nazis. Donalds called the remarks disgusting and said they inspire violence, while acknowledging Colbert's right to free speech. Donalds noted declining ratings and suggested CBS must decide whether to continue associating their network with such commentary.
Donalds Affirms Florida Open Carry Law Needs No Changes
Speaking at the Capitol, Congressman Donalds stated that Florida's open carry law requires no modification following the killing of Alex Pretti by federal law enforcement in Minneapolis. Donalds pointed to the constitutional carry framework and noted that a state appeals court struck down the previous open carry ban, with Attorney General Uthmeier applying the ruling statewide. Regarding Pretti, Donalds said individuals should not interfere with immigration officials, though he declined to pass judgment pending investigation. Donalds dismissed criticism from GOP rivals and indicated he will consider primary debates only after candidates qualify in June.
DeSantis Endorsement Becomes Central Factor in Gubernatorial Primary
Former House Speaker Paul Renner told Jenna Ellis that his path to the Governor's Mansion depends on earning Governor DeSantis's endorsement. Renner said he is prepared to wait as DeSantis evaluates the Republican field. Renner suggested that Lieutenant Governor Jay Collins has overstated his relationship with DeSantis and described the endorsement process as an extended evaluation of leadership and records. DeSantis has declined to endorse any candidate, stating that loyalty alone is not decisive. Renner said this has leveled the playing field. Polling and fundraising continue to show Congressman Donalds as the front-runner, supported by President Trump's endorsement. Renner acknowledged Donalds' advantages but believes DeSantis is waiting as voters begin paying closer attention to the race.
Florida GOP Questions Vindman Senate Candidacy
The Florida Republican Party raised questions about Alexander Vindman's U.S. Senate filing, noting he used an Arizona address. The party stated that Arizona already has two senators and Florida is not a political timeshare. Vindman, a retired Army Lieutenant Colonel and former National Security Council official, announced his campaign citing concerns about corruption and rising costs.
Renner Campaign Reports Social Media Concerns
The Paul Renner campaign reported that their X accounts may be experiencing reduced visibility and asked followers to confirm how they are seeing campaign posts.
